HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE MIKE ALLAN

Mike Allan was born in Baltimore, MD, and as the son of a coach, began playing lacrosse at a young age. In high school, he helped lead the Gilman School to an MIAA Championship in 1994, and was named a USILA High School All-American. Allan attended Princeton University where he was a member of the Tigers’ teams that won three straight NCAA Championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998.

After graduating, Allan moved to Los Angeles, CA. He coached at the Windward School, and coached the LA Lacrosse Club to a 3rd place finish in the state in 1999. Allan then coached the UCLA club team for four seasons before taking the job at UC Santa Barbara. He led the Gauchos to MCLA National Championships in 2004 and 2005. From 2006 to 2008, Allan was an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse. Allan briefly left California and coached at Towson University from 2009 to 2011. He then returned to UCSB in 2012. Allan lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Katie, and their two children, Hattie and Crosby.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE JOAN RUSSELL

Over the past sixteen years, Joan Russell has been part of the growth of lacrosse as it continues to expand throughout the Southern Section of Los Angeles.  Her older daughters were on the very first teams at Peninsula and Palos Verdes High Schools.

Joan has followed the inspirational examples set by Mitch Fenton, Joe Campbell, Dana Crompton, Suzette Soboti, Carolyn Miller, Aaron Karsh, and many others on her journey to enlighten people about the sport of lacrosse and to develop opportunities for more children throughout the region. In particular, as a member of US Lacrosse Greater LA Chapter Board she worked with Marissa Hewitt, Nancy Sheinbein, Tim Rossi, and Scott Hylen to offer PE Clinics that demonstrated to teachers how to implement the USL curriculum and lesson plans into their classes. Joan has been on the CIFSS Lacrosse Advisory Board, a recipient of the Myron Jay Wonders Award, and is a Rose Bowl Jamboree Volunteer.  Joan truly is a LAX Fan 4 Life!

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE MITCH FENTON

Mitch Fenton had a hand in the growth of youth and HS lacrosse when he arrived here from Long Island in 1976. He led the promotion of the game in his roles as the initial Presidents of the US Lacrosse chapters in San Diego, Orange County and Greater Los Angeles.

He coached the first HS team in Southern California in 1978 (Crawford HS in San Diego).  He is now the Boys Coach at Hamilton HS (LAUSD), a program that he started 4 years ago. This spring, 40 years after Crawford, he is retiring from coaching. In his 40+ years of serving the Southern California Lacrosse Community as coach, ref, administrator and tournament director, he has never accepted any payment.

He was elected to the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame for two other Southern California chapters: Orange County in 1993, and San Diego in 2010.

Since 2007, The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of US Lacrosse has honored it's Hall of Fame inductees with an awards dinner and silent auction. We create a night of memories for our inductees, their families, and the Greater Los Angeles lacrosse community.

The 2018 Hall of Fame Dinner is shaping up to be another fantastic event.  We will be honoring four deserving inductees as well as a special keynote speech by Notre Dame head Lacrosse coach, Kevin Corrigan.
